Monero CCS wallet was suspected of being stolen, resulting in a loss of 2675.73 XMR
According to Monero's Github, as of September 1st this year, 2675.73 XMR (approximately $460,000) from Monero's Community Crowdfunding System (CCS) wallet was emptied, and the specific reason is currently unknown. The following is the timeline of events: On April 12, 2020, founder fluffypony (Riccardo Spagni) created a new CCS wallet and shared the key with Luigi. Luigi accessed the CCS wallet through the Wire application and GPG-encrypted email; On August 3, 2021, in response to fluffypony's arrest, most of the CCS wallet balances were transferred to a hot wallet by Luigi; On May 10, 2023, the last transfer was made by Luigi from the CCS wallet to the hot wallet; On the night of September 1st, 2023, from 11:58 pm to 12:07 am on September 2nd, the CCS wallet was emptied in 9 transactions; In September 2023, the CCS wallet received a donation for Lovera (the only proposal that required funding); On September 28, 2023, Luigi logged into the CCS wallet to recharge the hot wallet and found a balance of about 4.6 XMR, representing the donation to Lovera in September; no additional transfers occurred after September 2nd; A few hours later on September 28th, Luigi spoke with binaryFate and confirmed that the general fund was intact. Afterwards, Luigi, binaryFate, and fluffypony discussed the matter; Since September 28th, the core team has been discussing internally; Luigi and fluffypony have also been conducting relevant evidence collection work, but no evidence of violations has been found yet.
