The U.S. SEC will make a decision and approve the Ethereum spot ETF before the end of May
On January 11th, the US SEC will make a decision on the approval of five Ethereum spot ETFs by the end of May. They will make a decision on the iShares Ethereum Trust and Fidelity Ethereum Fund, launched by Balckrock and Fidelity, respectively, on January 21st and January 25th, but may delay the final decision until August.
In addition, the final decision deadline for three Ethereum spot ETFs that have already applied is the end of May 2024, before which the US SEC needs to make a final decision on whether to approve them or not. They are VanEck Ethereum ETF, Ark 21Shares Ethereum ETF, and Hashdex Ethereum ETF, with final deadlines on May 23rd, May 24th, and May 30th, respectively.
In addition, the SEC must make a decision on Grayscale's application by June 18th and on Invesco's application by July 5th. Fidelity and Balckrock's applications must be decided by August 3rd and August 7th, respectively.
Previously, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas stated that he estimates a 70% chance of approval for ETH spot ETFs in May.
