Ethereum developers express concerns over Vitalik’s plan to increase gas limit
Ethereum developers, node operators, and users have not reached a consensus on Vitalik Buterin's recent proposal to increase the Ethereum Gas limit. On January 11th, Vitalik advocated for a "moderate" 33% increase in the Gas limit to potentially increase network throughput. Ethereum developer Marius van der Wijden stated that this proposal also has some drawbacks, mainly related to the increase in the size of the blockchain state, which includes account balances and smart contract data.He stated that the total space currently required for the state is approximately 267GB, and added, "If we increase the Gas limit, this size will grow even faster."
