Ethereum's latest meeting: Pectra's Devnet-1 is expected to be implemented in the next one or two weeks
According to the summary of the 191st Ethereum Execution Layer Core Developer Meeting (ACDE) shared on the Ethereum forum, this meeting discussed several proposals including Pectra update and EIP-7212.
1. Regarding the Pectra update, they are waiting for more clients to be ready before launching Devnet-1, but it is expected to be implemented within the next one or two weeks. The new update of EIP-7702 will be introduced on Devnet-2.
2. The EIP-7212 proposal received support regarding whether it should officially become part of Pectra, but a decision will wait until the next ACDE; This proposal has brought many good user experience improvements in key/wallet management and adopted widely supported encryption curves.
3. The meeting also discussed a proposal to add events in pre-deployed system contracts for cross-layer communication with EIP-7002 and EIP-7251. Everyone agreed that this change was meaningful and would update corresponding contracts accordingly.
4. The meeting called for discontinuing EIP-158 2 to simplify deployment impacts of EIP-7702 and Verkle migration; Given recent updates on 7702, this proposal is no longer necessary.
5. Finally, progress made in other protocol improvements such as historical expiration changes and blob memory pool were discussed at the meeting aimed at simplifying how users like rollup use blobs; There were calls for more regular updates on progress with EIP-4444 along with urging rollups and clients to take various measures towards smarter handling from blob producers' process up till inclusion into chain blobs.
