JD Vance has a VC background and was once the head of a company owned by "venture capital godfather" Peter Thiel.
On July 16th, it was reported that JD Vance, the Republican candidate for Vice President, served as the head of Mithril Capital Management LLC, a venture capital firm owned by Peter Thiel, known as the "godfather of venture capital" in Silicon Valley, from 2016 to 2017. In 2019, Vance co-founded Narya Capital, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with investors including Peter Thiel, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and Netscape Communications founder Marc Andreessen. In 2020, Vance raised $93 million for Narya Capital. Vance, Thiel, and former Trump advisor Darren Blanton also invested in Rumble, a popular Canadian online video platform among the political right.
