Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan: If confidence in economic activity and price outlook increases, we will adjust the intensity of monetary easing
Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan, Yohanesu Himeno, stated that if confidence in economic activity and price outlook increases, the Bank of Japan will adjust the intensity of monetary easing. The financial and capital markets are still unstable, so the Bank of Japan needs to monitor their developments with high vigilance. The Bank also plans to carefully examine the impact of these domestic and foreign market developments on economic activities and price prospects, risks faced by prospects, as well as confidence levels towards them. It aims to achieve a 2% inflation target in a sustainable and stable manner according to appropriate monetary policies while maintaining close communication with market participants and other stakeholders. Close attention should be paid to recent market fluctuations including weak stock markets and strengthening yen.
