Survey: mass tokenisation of financial assets may still take three years
The majority of respondents reportedly believe tokenisation will reach a substantial level within three years, according to a survey by the Office of Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF).
OMFIF surveyed 26 institutions in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, including ministries of finance, banks and asset managers, it was said. 92 per cent of respondents believe that financial markets will experience a substantial level of tokenisation at some point, although all said it would take at least another three years.
According to the survey, 42 per cent of respondents agree that blockchain will become the dominant form of financial market infrastructure. 65 per cent of respondents believe that bonds are most likely to be tokenised.
