On October 7th, the US government filed two legal actions on October 4th to seize digital assets worth over $2.67 million stolen by the North Korean hacker group Lazarus Group. According to PeckShieldAlert data, in September 2024, losses caused by cryptocurrency hacking attacks and vulnerabilities exceeded $120 million.

According to legal documents, the US government seeks to recover about $1.70 million of USDT, which was stolen from the options exchange 28 million dollars in the Deribit hack in 2022. After the hackers successfully invaded the Deribit hot wallet, they mixed the funds through the Tornado Cash mixer and multiple Ethereum addresses.

US law enforcement officials have also applied to recover about $970,000 of Avalanche-bridged-Bitcoin (BTC.b), which was stolen after Lazarus Group hacked Stake.com gambling platform in 2023. The malicious attack caused Stake more than $41 million in losses.
