Musk lawyer: $1 million daily grant is a paycheck, not a lottery ticket
CNN reporter Marshall Cohen said in a social media post that Musk's attorney Chris Gober said Musk's $1 million daily donation is not a lottery, that there are no prizes to be won, and that the recipients are not chosen at random. Instead, the $1 million is a paycheck they earn as spokespeople for Musk's pro-Trump super PACs.Gober said the recipients were selected based on their fitness for the role and personal stories. In response, the Philadelphia District Attorney's team said it was a full admission of liability on Musk's part to operate an illegal lottery in violation of Pennsylvania law.Gober argued that there is a difference between randomness and chance, which is why he asserted that it was not an illegal lottery under Pennsylvania gaming laws. As previously reported, Musk's PAC was sued by the U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia to stop the $1 million lottery.
