U.S. Secret Service to deploy additional agents to protect Trump relatives
The U.S. Secret Service will begin protecting President-elect Donald Trump's immediate family in the coming days as the Biden and Trump administrations are set to transition in the coming months, a law enforcement official said. The U.S. Secret Service has stepped up its efforts to protect Trump after his near-assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, this summer and a second assassination allegedly targeting him in Florida in September. Agents have been pulled from investigative duties to help fill in gaps in the protection detail, a problem that may ease as Trump's campaign schedule across the country winds down.
