Starknet will increase TPS 4x and reduce fees 5x in the next 3 months
Eli Ben Sasson, CEO of StarkWare, stated during DevCon 2024 that the transaction speed of Starknet is expected to increase fourfold in the next three months, while transaction fees will decrease by fivefold. This improvement is mainly due to better compilation and faster execution of its native smart contract language, Cairo. Starknet plans to increase transaction speed to over 1000 TPS, comparable to Solana's performance. Currently, the average transaction fee for Starknet is only $0.002, and it is expected to further decrease, making it one of the cheapest Ethereum layer 2 networks. In addition, StarkWare is also exploring the introduction of the OP_CAT improvement proposal to support native settlement on Bitcoin, which is expected to be implemented in the next 12 months.
