From $Degen to $ANON, the "product coin" that has been on fire in the farcaster ecosystem has always revolved around community and user engagement.

In this Meme coin frenzy, overshadowed by the Solana ecosystem all along, even though the golden dog frequently appeared, the Meme coins in the Base ecosystem still seem to be quietly surging.

And these past two days, a coin in the Base ecosystem called $ANON, online for only six days, has been steadily rising, reaching a peak market cap of 22 million.

Although it can't compete with the current Solana Meme coins' "one-day pass," in a market where the focus is more on BTC and Solana frenzy, the rise of $ANON in the Base ecosystem is still worth exploring.

Is $ANON a new narrative of value or a conspiracy by a shadowy group in Base's new layout? Deep Tide TechFlow, through event sorting, analyzes the ins and outs of $ANON for you.

Supercast and Superanon

The story begins with Polish developer woj (@wojtekwtf) creating the social app Supercast based on the Farcaster protocol in October 2024. Supercast is a peer-level application layer like the flagship social product in the Base ecosystem, Warpcast. Supercast introduced an anonymous posting feature called Superanon, supported by zk proof technology, allowing users to post anonymously through a SuperAnon account, with only a 10U/month membership fee.

Evidently, the application allowing anonymous posting, Superanon, is highly welcomed by crypto users (or Farcaster ecosystem users). Launching just three weeks ago, Superanon already has over 4300 followers, with many of the most intense discussions about Farcaster posted anonymously through this account. Developer woj himself is proud, saying, "This is my most successful launch recently."

Anonymous User + AI Coin Minting, Is $ANON Really a Community Coin?

Superanon has been running smoothly since its launch. On November 14th, an anonymous user interacted through the Superanon account with the AI Agent account @clanker in the Farcaster ecosystem, successfully minting a $ANON MEME coin and airdropping 1% of the tokens to Supercast founder, woj, without woj's knowledge at that time.

(It is worth mentioning that the recently popular AI Meme $LUM in the Base ecosystem was also released by AI Agent @clanker and currently has a market cap of $30 million.)

It wasn't until woj woke up and found an additional $25,000 worth of $ANON in his wallet that he decided to airdrop all $ANON in the wallet to over a thousand paid Supercast member users. (woj's exact words: "This is cool, but I can't fully support it as any Supercast tokens will be distributed to its users.")

woj's very crypto-spirited gesture was highly appreciated by the community. Coupled with $ANON's built-in "zk+anonymous+AI minting" version buff, the community naturally went crazy for $ANON's sufficiently decentralized narrative, pushing its market cap to a peak of $4.5 million within less than a day of launch.

The community also rallied behind woj's crypto spirit through action: $ANON holders in the Farcaster community voluntarily sent over 13 million tokens worth over $40,000 to developers for redistribution to Supercast users.

The Capitalization Debate Resurfaces?

However, just as the uppercase $ANON was gaining momentum, the next day woj posted on warpcast announcing the intention to change the icon of superanon to an adorable dog image, mint it as an NFT on the Zora platform, and airdrop it to supercast members. This NFT could then be converted into lowercase $anon in a coin-to-image transaction. However, it was also emphasized that the NFT currently only holds collectible value, and any connection to the uppercase $ANON is purely coincidental, among a series of other "shield" statements.

In other words, just yesterday woj, who self-promoted in a big way the uppercase $ANON, the next day released a lowercase $anon themselves...

However, this "uppercase-lowercase dispute" is not as intense as that between $Neiro and $eliza, or it can be said that the lowercase $anon is not at all a match for the uppercase $ANON. At the time of writing, the market cap of uppercase $ANON is close to 20 million USD, while the market cap of lowercase $anon is still hovering around 300,000 USD. Yet, woj himself seems to really love the image of this lowercase dog.

Further Diversification in the "ANON" Application Layer

With both narrative and consensus, but woj does not seem particularly interested in further use cases for $ANON. However, the community has come up with new ideas for $ANON.

Twitter user @0xLuo has created a classification map for the current "ANON" ecosystem, visually demonstrating the clear structure of the current "ANON" projects.

Developers have created new applications based on $ANON, such as anoncast, an anonymous posting application with zk-proof exclusively for $ANON holders, and the art project Base Colors.

anoncast

anoncast inherits the anonymous posting feature of superanon, but with a difference. Users need to hold a certain amount of uppercase $ANON in their wallet to use the application, unlocking different features based on their holdings.

The most basic posting feature requires holding 30,000 $ANON tokens (current price around 450 USD). More advanced features, such as promoting a post to the X/Twitter platform or deleting a post, require holding 1 million $ANON tokens (current price around 16,000 USD).

Crypto enthusiasts are also very interested in anoncast. Dan Romero, co-founder of Farcaster (@dwr), has tweeted and retweeted content about anoncast multiple times, and Vitalik Buterin has discussed technical details with anoncast's developer @Slokh on Warpcast.

Base Colors

Base Colors is an NFT collection of internet colors. Each color is unique, owned, and can be named on the blockchain, ensuring that no two people can own the same color and no two colors can have the same name.

Developer @0FJAKE suggests that unique colors can establish uniqueness for anonymous identities, confirming the "you are you" attribute.

Summary

From $Degen to $ANON, the "product coins" that have been booming in the farcaster ecosystem seem to be taking a fairly solid and reliable path—where the token always revolves around the community and users.

However, it is inevitable on this journey that non-community members will enter purely for speculative purposes. This is not necessarily a bad thing for the token itself, as the continued price increase will also help more "outsiders" to further understand the project, thereby retaining more users interested in the community.

The real value of a series of tokens such as $Degen, $ANON lies not in short-term market value fluctuations but in whether they can build a self-organizing, self-evolving ecosystem. This ecosystem can continuously adapt to user needs, evolve continuously under community promotion, and ultimately achieve a transformation from a purely fanatical meme-driven asset to a utility token.
