The German regulatory authority requires World to delete illegally collected data
According to Cointelegraph, the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA) in Germany has issued corrective measures regarding the handling of biometric data by digital identity project World (formerly known as Worldcoin). The regulator announced that it has completed its investigation into World's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and ordered World to implement a data deletion procedure compliant with GDPR standards within one month after the ruling takes effect. In response, the World Foundation appealed against this decision, asking regulators to provide judicial clarification on whether the Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) of the World network complies with EU anonymization legal definitions.
