Ragnarok Landverse Genesis to launch on Ronin in early 2025
Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis, a Web3 adaptation of the classic MMORPG Ragnarok Online, is scheduled to debut on the Ronin Network in the first quarter of 2025.
Originally launched in 2002 by South Korean developer Gravity, Ragnarok Online was one of the most popular MMORPGs of the early 2000s, attracting over 100 million players and generating more than $2 billion in revenue.
The Web3 version, Ragnarok Landverse, was introduced in September 2023, through a collaboration between Ronin and blockchain gaming platform Zentry.
Since its launch, it has gained over 400,000 players and earned $18.9 million in revenue, with a strong following in Southeast Asia.
Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis, however, will not continue the storyline of the original Ragnarok Landverse.
Ronin clarified that "This is a fresh new experience exclusively available on Ronin."
The existing Landverse servers and player bases will eventually migrate to Ronin, but players should note that any assets from the original Landverse will not carry over to Genesis.
In addition to the game's release, Zentry, which raised $150 million in funding in August 2023, will become a node validator on the Ronin Network.
It will also bridge its ZENT token to Ronin and introduce incentivised liquidity pools on Ronin’s Katana decentralised exchange.
Zentry’s latest move includes the launch of the Nexus Player Portal on December 13, providing players with a universal digital identity, lifetime rewards, and cross-platform integration.
Zentry CEO Jarindr Thitadilaka expressed the company’s goal to onboard 50 million users into Web3 gaming.
With more than 3 million daily transactions and high scalability, Ronin is set to support the anticipated success of Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis.
