U.S. stocks opened lower, the three major indexes closed collectively lower. The Nasdaq fell 0.9%, 2024 cumulative 28.64%; S&P 500 index fell 0.43%, 2024 cumulative 23.31%; the Dow fell 0.07%, 2024 cumulative 12.88%. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 both recorded their 4th straight daily loss, with the S&P 500 posting its longest year-end decline since 1966. Most of the large technology stocks fell, Tesla fell more than 3%, 2024 cumulative rise of more than 62%; Nvidia fell more than 2%, 2024 cumulative rise of more than 171%.
