Blockchain startup BTQ proposes a more energy-efficient alternative to POW
Golden Finance reports that researchers from the start-up company BTQ, dedicated to developing blockchain technology capable of resisting quantum computer attacks, recently published a journal article proposing an alternative to the Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm involving quantum technology, called Coarse-Grained Boson Sampling (CGBS). This method uses light particles (bosons) to generate unique patterns (samples) reflecting the current state of the blockchain, rather than relying on hash-based mathematical problems. It is reported that this approach replaces traditional PoW cryptographic puzzles with quantum sampling tasks, significantly reducing energy consumption while ensuring network security and decentralization.
