However, Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère (pictured left) told the same publication that the club would not be put up for sale. “The owner’s objective is absolutely not to sell the club,” he said. “If the club was for sale, I’d tell you willingly because it’s not murder or shameful to put a club up for sale. “But, I’ll repeat myself, that isn’t the case. But, if one day it does go up for sale, there wouldn’t be any problem because [the club] is healthy and structured.” As well as Nice, Ineos also owns Swiss soccer club Lausanne-Sport. SportsPro says… With multi-club ownership a increasing popular model for investors, Uefa has found it challenging to ensure clubs within the same group can compete against each other without any risk to its competitions’ integrity. While a fix appears to be in place for the coming season, Ineos and Ratcliffe may find it easier to sell Nice outright to avoid any further restrictions. The latter appears to be increasingly involved with his new role at Manchester United, having immersed himself in major decisions at the English outfit, such as leading efforts to explore a revamp of Old Trafford and determining whether the team’s manager Erik ten Hag will remain in charge. But given Ligue 1 remains without a domestic rights deal in place for next season, it would be difficult to see a deal happening any time soon. Interested parties may prefer to wait for any announcements before proceeding, especially as clubs prepare for a significantly worse financial landscape.
