Ethereum's Vitalik: The world should not fall into the kingdom of power dominated by AI alone
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, in an interview with Tencent News' "Deep Look", stated that OpenAI has now become CloseAI. Today, another issue arises: firstly, they sacrificed their open-source for security; then this year, they sacrificed their security for profit. Last year there was a conflict between the company and the board of directors. After the conflict, it seems like Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) won. Recently they announced that they would transition from a non-profit to a profit-making company and reduce the power of the board - you could say reduced to an advisor level. This worries me quite a bit. It reminds me of a quote from one of America's founding fathers: "One cannot sacrifice freedom for safety because if you do so, you will find yourself without both safety and freedom." Looking at OpenAI's actions, it seems like such an event has occurred. In addition to this, regarding the crypto field, Vitalik said that one problem in recent five years is everyone's dreams and hopes are high but technology can't achieve most dreams about how Crypto can save the world; The first possibility might be Crypto + Decentralized AI; The second possibility might be Crypto + A technology that can replace AI. To some extent, AI’s prosperity over these two years may cause cooling in Crypto space which I worry about: If particularly intelligent people don’t work on Crypto leaving those who remain in crypto possibly lacking interesting ideas with only financial applications being developed as we have been doing for many years already – issuing coins or setting up exchanges repeatedly or even issuing coins featuring cute dogs – these things are fun but if they’re all our industry does then our industry is failing. Our challenge is creating applications meaningful yet engaging enough to attract mass participation. However this year saw increased strength within crypto leading more developers wanting to create apps meaningful yet popular among users. If success continues within crypto space, many will still choose to participate in Crypto.
